Inheritance: Gown #1 and #2
Shaped Woven Tapestry
2022
each 47w x 93h x24d cm

The ongoing series Inheritance continues my interest in the drape of the tapestry object, patterning drawn from abused and derelict environments and symbolic reference to garments. In these works the object/garment is child sized suggesting the legacy of an uncertain future. Tar sands development, open pit mining, deforestation,  desertification, rust and mould provide the sources for the patterning.

My work reflects the complications and contradictions of issues with which we live. Through symbolic imagery, materials and the labour intensive process of hand weaving, I call attention to the precarious nature of our environment.
